Products - Edible Oil Solvent Extraction Plants
SOLVENT EXTRACTION

INTRODUCTION:
Solvent extraction is the most efficient method for maximum oil recovery from oil seeds. In addition it gives valuable by-products such as cotton linters and extracted meal rich in protein.
Solvent extraction plant extracts the oil from oil seeds by chemical method i.e., hexane is used to separate the oil from the meal. Complete unit of oil seed extraction by solvent extraction method can be divided into two portions.
1.       Oil seed preparation machinery up to cake formation - (Back process machinery).
2.       Machinery used to extract the oil from cake - (Solvent extraction plant)
Back process machinery for various oil seeds is different or  may  be  same i.e., back  process  for  sun   flower  seed  is  different  form  cotton  seed  back  process  in  the  since that it  dose  not  require  Delinting  process.  As for as solvent
Extraction plant is concerned it is same for various oil seeds. A complete unit for cotton seed processing plant constitutes the following sections.
1.       Seed cleaning section.
2.       Delinting section.
3.       Lint cleaning section.
4.       Lint pressing section.
5.       Decorticating section.
6.       Pre pressing section.
7.       Refining & oil storage section.
8.       Steam generation section.
9.       Preparation section.
10.      Solvent plant section.
Although the above machinery is for oil extraction from cotton seed but many other oil seeds can also be processed, i.e.,
Sun flower seed, rap seed, mustard, soybean, sesame, groundnut, safflower etc. The machinery sections used for various oil seeds are given below
Sun flower/ safflower / groundnut.
Section Nos. 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10.
Rapeseed /mustard /soybean/ sesame.
Section Nos. 1, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10.
The products & byproducts of various oil seeds are given below.
Cotton seed
1.       Cotton linter
2.       Hulls
3.       Refine oil
4.       Oil dirt (Soap)
5.       Meal
Sun flower /groundnut/ safflower
1.       Hull
2.       Refine oil
3.       Oil dirt (Soap)
4.       Meal
Rap /mustard/ soybean/ sesame
1.       Refine oil
2.       Oil dirt
3.       Meal

Although neutralizing of crude oil has been taken place, yet this refined oil is not edible and require more refining. This will taken place in cooking oil plant.

The Solvent Extraction Section works on the following track:-

  • Produces high quality oil & meal
  • It has low HEXANE consumption than other plants
  • It has low STEAM consumption due to its ECONOMIZER
  • It has low Electric Consumption than other plants
  • 18% Oil Recovery from oil & cake
  • It produces high quality oil, Low FFA and better colour as compared to other plants
